Prevalence of Antibodies to Hepatitis C Virus among Middle-aged Men
Abstract
Seven hundred and eighty one middle-aged(aged 42 to 53 years) men were tested for serum antibodies to hepatitis C virus(anti-HCV) by a enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ElISA). The serum anti-HCV was detected in 9 of 781(1.15%) middle-aged men.
The
prevalence of anti-HCV in middle-aged men appeared to be unrelated to the presence or absence of hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg).
